Triple Zero Calls - Certain Samsung Devices

DVC Telco - Triple Zero (000) device issues


We have been notified by Telstra Wholesale of an issue affecting some older Samsung mobile devices when attempting to call Trip Zero (000) in an emergency situation.


What is the issue? When a customers primary mobile network is unavailble, mobile devices are designed to automatically connect to another available network (such as Optus or Vodafone) to place the 000 call. However, some older Samsung devices are not correctly connecting to the Vodafone Network, which may prevent emergency calls from going through, in rare cases.


Note - This issue doe not affect calls made while connected to the Telstra Wholesale network and does not impact voice over WIFI emergency calls


What devices are affected? See below list of affected devices that will be blocked from the network on 26th November

When will this Happen? These devices will be blocked on 26th November from using our network


Is this just Telstra Network Issue? No, this is not an issue with Telstra's Mobile Network or Triple Zero Systems, but older Samsung Devices


What do I have to do? Make sure you do not have one of the above devices, if you do you will need to change your device ASAP. Our team are more than happy to help you if you need assistance


Samsung Device? If you have a Samsung device it is recommended you complete the latest software upgrade. Please see below devices which need to be upgraded into order to be used on the Telstra Network
